Brought to you by the TBS Antisemitism Taskforce
The goal of Seders of Understanding is to build relationships with our non-Jewish neighbors and friends, creating understanding, awareness, and allyship. We will do this by sharing a mini Passover Seder with them.
Passover is a holiday with some big universal themes like freedom from bondage, the importance of community, and embracing the unknown.
How Does It Work?
The rabbis compiled a very short Haggadah (Passover prayer book) that focuses on these themes. Families within our congregation will invite a non-Jewish neighbor or friend into their homes to experience a Passover seder. This could be anything from a formal seder to making Matzah Pizza and sharing stories. The temple can provide you with Haggadahs and instruction as well as some good discussion guides.
When Could this Happen?
Anytime! We don’t envision this happening on the traditional seder nights - people can pick whichever night works best for their families sometime this Spring. This can happen even after Passover has ended.
If you or your family are interested in participating in this program, please reach out to our staff. We would love to have 10 families sign up to host these Mini-Seders!
